AxeBay |
 |
|
|
|
AxeBay is more than
an online shop or a
place for members to buy and sell
guitars and guitar accessories. AxeBay
is a guitar community.
At AxeBay we want to offer all services
to guitarists from purchasing
necessities like strings and batteries
to guitar lessons, advice, guitar forums
and guitar articles. We want AxeBay to
be a central location for all guitarists
where we can all share our knowledge.
We invite you to become part of this
unique community. Standard membership is
free and for a small cost you can enjoy
all of our services. This is just the
beginning; let’s see how great we can
make our guitar community.
Apart from the current features (see
below) that AxeBay offers we have many
new ideas that will be implemented in
the near future and if there is anything
that you would like to see incorporated
into AxeBay please let us know by

History |
 |
|
|
|
AxeBay was the brain child of Wayne Stokes (Stokesy),
Managing Director of AxeBay Co., Ltd., several years
ago. Stokesy has been playing guitar from an early age
and played professionally throughout Australia for
fourteen years. Although the idea came to Stokesy in the
late nineties work commitments and lack of funds saw the
project put on hold for many years.
To overcome the funding issues Stokesy moved to Bangkok,
Thailand and started AxeBay Co., Ltd in 2008. AxeBay is
a Thai – Australian company and employs a small team of
programmers and support analysts to develop and maintain
Axebay.com.
Unbeknown to Stokesy his friend of some twenty years
from the Gold Coast Australia, Colin ‘illy’ Hill had
also moved to Thailand around the same time. Looking for
a truly professional guitarist and teacher Stokesy
contacted illy and the two collaborated for much of the
content on AxeBay. |

AxeBay Sales Philosophy |
 |
|
|
|
AxeBay begun with the simple idea of putting guitarists
in touch with each other to buy and sell guitars and
guitar related products. With the premise that a
guitarist would prefer to play a guitar before
purchasing it, AxeBay took a magazine style format with
“For Sale” ads for guitars. That is the member pays a
small fee, as low as $5 USD up front, to advertise an
item for sale, the same way you would place an ad in a
newspaper or magazine except that the ad runs for a
longer period of time (one month) on AxeBay then it
would in a newspaper.
As with newspaper and magazines ads, buyers would be
looking for items in their local area. When finding a
product of interest the buyer would contact the seller
and arrange a meeting. This is the basis for guitar
sales on AxeBay. However, as AxeBay evolved auctions
were included with the realization that not all items
would have to been seen to be bought. According to
Stokesy,
“Certainly a guitarist would want to play a guitar
before buying it but do you really need to see and touch
an effects pedal, a case or a guitar tuner before you
purchase those items.”
So now at AxeBay you can trade worldwide. |
