|
I just purchased a new Strat and my friend told me that I should put a new lock down tremolo system on it. I asked him why but he wasnt really sure. Can anyone tell me what benefit it would give and which is the best one to get.

The original tremolos that Fender created and the Bigsby put the strings out of tune very easily when you use them. The idea of a lockdown system is that it clamps the strings off at the nut and keeps them in tune a lot better. You then tune the guitar by adjusting the lockdown nuts at the nut of the guitar. The best one is the Floyd Rose but some guys use Washburn. Basically the lockdown system keeps the guitar in tune other tremolos put it out of tune. |

I like the Washburn Wonderbar dont know if they still make em though, you should be able to get one second hand. |
