There are many companies to choose from when it comes to
shipping your product. Below is a list of recommended transport companies:

• Fedex
http://www.fedex.com ships to and from

• USPS

You might find other transport companies in your local area that better
accommodate your needs. Your local post office is always available for shipping
in your own country and often internationally as well.
Costs
The cost of shipping any item depends upon a number of factors:
•
destination,
•
weight,
•
size,
•
amount you ship,
•
how often you ship with this company.
The more you ship with a shipping company the bigger discounts you will receive,
this saving can be passed on to your buyers. Companies like Pack and Send use a
major transport company and because they ship so much freight they get massive
discounts so they can offer you cheaper rates then what you would be able to
achieve by going direct to the transport company itself.
You can get quotes from all major shipping companies and use the shipping
calculators below. The cost of shipping should be listed in your advertisement.
You should list the shipping cost only without import, customs duties or
insurance. As customs duties and local import taxes are the responsibility of
the buyer; the seller need not concern themselves about such matters.
Handling
Any handling costs should be factored into the price of your product or the
reserve price of your auction. Do not add it to your shipping costs as the buyer
can check the shipping calculators and this could lead to a dispute.
Handling costs include:
•
Costs of boxes and packing materials (tape, bubble wrap, paper, labels etc)
•
Time to pack the product.
Insurance
Insurance should be taken out on all items shipped. However, it is the
responsibility of the buyer to request and pay for the insurance. This can be
added to the shipping costs when negotiating with the buyer.
All transport companies offer insurance at very reasonable rates and usually
items under $100 US are insured for free. Check with the transport company.
Tracking
All of the transport companies recommended by Axebay offer some sort of online
tracking facility. Both the buyer and seller should take advantage of this
facility so both know exactly where the package is at any particular time. This
means that the seller will have to provide the buyer with a tracking reference
number.
